Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley has lost up to £300million on a bet on troubled bank HBOS, it was claimed.
The
controversial football tycoon lost £800,000 for every penny wiped off
the bank's share price as it was plunged into financial turmoil last
week, it was reported.
He was alleged to have lost out after
placing a huge financial spread bet on the bank in March, when its
shares were worth just under £6 each.
